Bio

Will Weigler was born and raised in Portland, Oregon where he began directing neighborhood kids in plays when he was about seven years old. He made his professional directing debut at age fifteen with a rag-tag production of the back-alley opera archy and mehitebel. He received a B.A. with honors in English Literature and a minor in Theater from Oberlin College in 1982. Since then he has worked with urban and rural theatre companies all over the United States as an actor, director, administrator, technician, producer and casting director.

Will was on the editorial staff of We Are Strong: A Guide to the Work of Popular Theatres Across the Americas (Institute for Cultural Policy Studies, 1983). The book profiled popular/people’s theatre companies - companies rooted in their communities - and featured articles about different working methods, theories and history.

Will co-founded Young Actors' Forum, a non-profit youth theatre company which brings together diverse groups of children and teenagers to create and perform their own plays about issues that matter to them.
