Teaching about reconciliation through performance: A workshop for teachers

  • Available as a 90-minute workshop

This workshop offers a creative teaching strategy that will deepen students’ personal understanding of the lived experience of Indigenous people in Canada and the legacy of colonization. It is designed to promote social-emotional learning when examining historical stories of trauma and injustice while avoiding becoming trapped in blame, anger, or shame.

As a theatre director, my approach enables students to identify specific moments in a story that have meaning for them and translate what they find into various forms of creative expression.
